AL-JAMI LI-AHKAM AL-QURAN KARYA IMAM AL-QURTUBI DAN METODOLOGI TAFSIRNYA

Abstract

The book Tafsir al-Jami li-Ahkam al-Quran by Imam al-Qurtubi has garnered significant attention from scholars of tafsir. This work is classified as one of the interpretations categorized as tafsir bi al-rayi al-mahmud. This study serves as a motivation to closely examine and comprehensively analyze this tafsir work, as familiarity with it can lead to a deeper understanding of the guidance in the Qur'an. It appears that al-Qurtubi aimed to compile and clarify all verses related to legal rulings as well as other verses, in line with the title of his tafsir, Al-Jami li Ahkam al-Quran wa al-Mubayyin lima Tadammanahu min al-Sunnah wa Ayi al-Furqan, which means the compendium of Quranic rulings and the explanation of what it contains from the Sunnah and the Verses of the Quran. Al-Qurtubis tafsir is characterized as a fiqh-oriented tafsir, hence it is often referred to as tafsir Ahkam, as it primarily links the Quranic verses with legal issues. This study will review the expertise of the exegete Imam al-Qurtubi and the methodology he employed in his book Tafsir al-Jami li-Ahkam al-Quran.
